Mirrorlinks
Mirrorlinks are an identity voluntarily chosen by someone because they relate to the character/being enough to identify AS them: they see themself in the character a lot, they mirror the character's personality in many ways, and identifying as them makes them feel comfortable!
Copinglinks
Copinglinks are an identity voluntarily chosen by someone because they relate to the character's trauma, stress, mental illness, or anything else going on, and identifying as them helps them cope and deal with what they are going through!
Synpaths
Synpaths are characters, beings, or concepts that extremely resonates with you and you relate to them on multiple levels, and you identify WITH them instead of AS them!
Other Important Information
For linktypes, the person with that linktype can change them up a bit to fit them! For example, someone who has a copinglink with a certain character can change their personality a bit, even give them a mental illness that they need to cope with to better fit their coping!There is always a line between self and the linktype, which also makes this different from otherkin, IRLs, etc. whereas those cannot be chosen, linktypes can be!
